SAO was only published at that time. Before that is was up on the internet as a web novel under the pen name of Kunori Fumio about 3 months before .hack

I used the $10 vita headphones and never looked back. Works on everything perfectly, and sounds better than any ear buds I've ever bought. Never went over $30 on buds though.
