You might want to update the story. I am seeing that Ellie is a fake person and it was a man playing the game all along. They were doing some social experiment.  Not sure why they let it go all the way to being signed to a team.

That bug was fixed by modders. Since they recycled the FO4 code that power armor bug is back in FO76 unfixed. Bethesda does not fix their bugs, they expect modders to do it. Heck there are bugs in the creation engine that are 15+ years old they have still not fixed.
