“So-called President Trump”, is what I’m calling him from now on.

Uh, just in the last few years, protests have brought down the governments of Egypt, Libya, Ukraine, Tunisia, and Yemen, and forced major changes in a number of other countries. It all depends on how much the protesters are willing to lose.
I was, until early 2015, a milquetoast Republican. I live in Maryland, so...anyway. I cannot tell you how many times I voted before this cycle - I honestly do not remember. The over/under is 1.5, and I signed up at 18. I’m 36, people.
I think where white people get mixed up is what they’re supposed to FEEL about their privilege. They (we) too often assume it’s guilt or remorse that’s required. When, in reality, it’s kindness and civility and fairness. And most importantly sometimes, it requires outrage for a plight that’s not your own.
Keep it the fuck up people. Democrats were ready to roll over but it feels like the protests and sustained outrage are giving our leaders a little bit of courage. Every little bit helps if we’re going to do this.
If nothing else it will force the House Republicans to show that they really don’t give a rat’s flying fuck about national security or supporting the military.

I think he’s testing the waters honestly. I don’t recall a president speaking out so soon after a new administration has taken office to encourage people to continue protesting. I imagine there are some very serious, high-level conversations going on - and even the Koch brothers aren’t happy about this shit right…
Since Jez didn’t cover his Seattle stop, FYI an anti-fa who was actively working to de-escalate tensions with protesters and MAGA-Nazis WAS SHOT by a MAGA bro who then went to police and turned himself in and then was RELEASED by the police immediately afterwards. http://patch.com/washington/seattle/man-who-shot-milo-y…
Its black history month so let me take this opportunity to talk about me and how unfair the press is and let me name check a few token well-known black folks, inner cities and scene.
I guess this is fine but then how does the work of the people get done? The perpetual paralysis of government is not good for anyone. I am not suggesting rolling over but I don’t think that the country can survive if all we do from here on out is obstruct the functioning of government. The dangerous hyper-partisanship…
ugh. here we go, down a liberal rabbit hole of ‘holier-than-thou’ grandstanding (seeing it all over my social media already).
He probably just lost a couple of thousand fans.
Thanks, Ash. I’m definitely not a PSCW, but I’ve appreciated your posts over the past umpteen years. I think it is more important right now for PSCWs to speak up and say to their elected officials that this is not ok. Many Rs don’t care a bit about what those who didn’t vote for them think, but if enough PSCWs start…
I’m a Proud Southern Conservative White Guy(TM), but f*ck stereotypes all around. I just wrote my Congresspeople (all Republicans) urging them to stall Trump as much as possible, if not outright oppose him. If you want to reform immigration, great! But if you want to be an authoritarian asshole to everyone as part of…
I’ve never called an elected representative in my life. I just did. I expected to have to leave a voicemail, but someone picked up on the first ring! This caught me off guard, so I stammered my way through what I wanted to say about the last couple of weeks, especially this weekend. Who knows if the congressperson I…
