You know, you'd think that would be a factor. There are other buildings in town that are tall enough, not to mention bridges and so forth. Yet the suicide-by-height crowd here have mostly congregated at the parking garage. Go figure.

What?
A few years ago, my city built a new parking garage downtown. It is currently the tallest structure in town. As soon as it opened, it became the go-to place for people to jump to their deaths. I think there have been something like a dozen suicides or attempted suicides off the top of the parking garage since it…
Reminds me of a Robin Williams movie called The Survivors. You have a bunch of survivalists out in the woods, and their leader gives them a speech.
I don't think there's a problem with technobabble in and of itself as long as it's not used in place of established science. Star Trek was a major offender, especially Voyager. The misuse of "plasma" on Next Generation alone was a running joke among my friends.
I was thinking Traveller, myself. "Spinward Fringe," "Spinward Marches." Basically the same thing.
So, Jim owes Steve a lot of money, and Steve goes over to collect.
Siri, do I need to take a shower?
"I hate what you did to my favorite comic book character so much that I'm only going to buy five copies of the next issue and seal them away in plastic bags in a long box in my closet. So there."
Not sure if it would fit in the garage, though.
Man, I could have used this for my driveway a couple years ago.
Well, there you go.
Technically speaking, wasn't the Star Wars Holiday Special a Thanksgiving program? (I didn't think it was all that bad, honestly, but I was 15 at the time.)
I disagree. The sound design and the imagery would be at least as effective, if not more so, without the text.
The scene is very good. It doesn't need the text crawl. The text crawl, I believe, is completely unnecessary. Fortunately, all the things you thing are awesome come after the text. You could cut the text away entirely and you would not fucking miss it.
Funny. Just tonight a bit before I watched this trailer, my wife and I finished up watching all five seasons of Sons of Anarchy straight through for the past 10 days or so. I was slightly confused for a bit.
I have to say that I've seen worse examples of Internet entitlement, but not this week.
I'm talking about it from a storytelling perspective, not from the technical aspects. Sure, the technical aspects were great. In spite of what Hollywood seems to think, however, SFX ≠ storytelling.
I disagree. Expedient storytelling would be jumping right into the action and through the process of telling the story over the course of the film allowing the audience to discover the significance of the events and the actions of the characters. Lazy storytelling is feeling the need to remove all ambiguity and…
The Star Wars movies were great fun. None of them, however, are particularly well made. That's part of the conceit, of course, as they are meant to be modern takes on the cheesy serials of the '30s and '40s. It's also the limitations of the filmmakers.
