“White Cheddar Is A Lie”
My understanding is that the podcasts will still be available where they are now -- but there will also be a Team Coco channel on SiriusXM as part of the deal, and obviously that would be for subscribers.
Only when pickled. Otherwise ... no. I pick them out of my salad and still don’t like the taste they leave behind.
The Captain D’s seafood chain now has posted at our local restaurant that it is serving Cheesecake Factory cheesecake, although there doesn’t seem to be any mention of it on the company’s website. (They have long offered cheesecake by the slice as a dessert option, but I’ve never seen it specifically identified as…
If you’ve never seen it, look for the Mystery Science Theater 3000 episode featuring a low-budget production of “Hamlet” made for German television, starring a very young Maximillian Schell (and the English-language dub of Claudius is the instantly-recognizable voice of Ricardo Montalban!). They have a field day with…
I found it once at a local Latino grocery in my small, rural town -- but after I got it home, I found that it was past expiration date. I first tried the stuff in Costa Rica, and I love it. Now you have me craving some.
I get the reference, but I tend to think it would be *easier* for Taco Bell to go meatless. The difference between real ground meat and the imitation product would be a lot less noticeable in seasoned taco meat than in a burger.
Sorry about that! https://medium.com/@johnicarney/a-sourdough-saga-279988447527
I have enjoyed baking bread over the years. I had a sourdough starter years ago, but when the big sourdough craze was going on, I was still going to work every day, and my oven was (and still is) kind of on the fritz. But I do have a bread machine -- don’t laugh. It really is a wonderful appliance. Just in the past…
Kenji Lopez-Alt debunked the “no soap” thing a few years ag0, and I know he’s right — but I still don’t use soap on my cast iron, except in extreme circumstances. It’s just baked into me at this point.
There is no such thing as “perfectly seasoned.” Different people may prefer different amounts of salt. Salt at the table allows people who like a little more salt to add it.
They’re in 15 states, according to Wikipedia.
At Penn Station East Coast Subs, I occasionally go for the artichoke sub — a hot sub with artichoke hearts and (optional) mushrooms. The sandwich does come with cheese and mayo by default, so the gooey version of it that I enjoy obviously isn’t for strict vegans, but, man, it’s a good sandwich. And I love Penn…
When our local Kroger introduced curbside pickup, pre-pandemic, I tried it out of curiosity but didn’t think I’d use it that often. I knew that it can be a lifesaver for busy mothers with young kids and some other specific target groups. But I’ve found myself using it more and more often. I get pretty good results,…
Here in my small rural town in Tennessee, we have two Subways, a Penn Station, and a good local sandwich shop — each of which has its own advantages and disadvantages. I actually love Subway’s app — it was the first, and for a while, the only fast food app I used, simply because I like customizing my sandwich at my…
The Documentary Now thing was a funny parody/tribute, no doubt. But “Jiro” really is worth watching. Be sure you pay attention to a little bit of on-screen text near the end of the movie (there’s no narrator) that drops a critical detail about the reviewer visits that led to the restaurant’s Michelin stars.…
We still have it here in Tennessee, and it’s normally my go-to.
I love the documentary “Jiro Dreams of Sushi,” and one of the points of it is that Jiro’s restaurant was the first sushi restaurant with three stars. But, as I understand it, Michelin has since delisted the restaurant — not for any reason related to quality but because it’s become so hard to get a reservation, and the…
I may be completely wrong about this — because, just now, I could not find any reference to it online at all — but I remember decades ago — no later than the early 80s — reading an interview with Julie Andrews in which she mentioned peanut butter on a hamburger as something that her husband, director Blake Edwards,…
Years ago, a “Paul Harvey’s The Rest Of The Story” about Harland Sanders included a story of him plotting to kidnap his daughter away from his wife (they were separated at the time). The plan feel through, because for some reason the little girl wasn’t home on the day he was lurking nearby. The theme of the “Rest Of…
