Franken received all the due process he was entitled to, and if he didn’t, that is his own fault and no one else’s.

Nearly four decades later, even in Indiana, coming out is really not so unusual. He has not come close to offering a credible reason for the delay... He is, at least in part, a cowardly man. And a liar.
You really hit on a thing here - people would (rightly) bristle if someone said “I like Mayor Pete because he’s a tolerable gay, you barely notice it because he acts straight so it makes me comfortable” but we’re supposed to be ok with “I don’t like Mayor Pete because he’s not more overtly gay in a way I really can…
I think if you’re seriously putting yourself through a presidential campaign, you’ve got the fire. It’s basically a meat grinder that destroys everything it touches.
I could waste my time trying to explain what’s so wrong about this, but I know from my experience here on Jezebel that disingenuously policing the gayness of others is your entire odious schtick and that there’s no point in anyone trying to convince you otherwise.
The whole “gay guy will fuck around in office” thing is a really weird flex (and this is coming from a straight guy).
My problem with the piece (hi, fellow queer here!) was that it was a Really Bad Hot Take, written as if with the authority of All The Gays. Like... you don’t get to speak for me, you don’t get to tell Mayor Pete how to be gay, and you don’t get to tell straight people how gay people are supposed to act. That second…
Fine, I’ll say it:
Hey Rich,
And the whole speculating whether he's a top or bottom seems pretty beyond the pale. When people speculate about women's sexuality, people recognize that as misogyny pretty easily.
It’s so cool when the “radical gays” try to make people feel like shit for wanting things that 95% of everyone else wants. “That gay wants a husband, like some kind of idiot! Look at how stupid he is! What’ll he say next, that he wants kids?! What a joke!”
I am so tired of this “it took him 33 years to come out.” Are gays supposed to come out the moment they are born? Jesus Christ this is so fucking stupid.
Thanks for the perspective, but you really don’t think that a historically progressive magazine like The New Republic publishing an article that argues that because a gay politician came out relatively later in life than the current norm, he won’t be able to focus on his job because he’ll be too busy exploring his…
Well this gay man found parts of the article to be quite homophobic. Calling a gay man “Mary” in an attempt to degrade and belittle him is pretty textbook homophobia.
Is it possible that it’s maybe not outright homophobia, but still pretty shitty to criticize someone for not being gay the way you want them to be (politician or not)?
sinking feeling of realizing while I’ll measure up to be someone somebody could potentially admire, like, or love one day, it sure as fuck wouldn‘t be today.
I genuinely think that I’m not cut out for dating anymore, and I give up. I constantly try my best to be my authentic and genuine self, but each time I meet someone, I miss the mark in some way, shape, or form. So I quit.
Thank you. Asking an actor to play a role simply because they are that role in real life is insulting. Not to mention the studio is running a business, not a non-profit outreach program.
Trying to shame her for these things is ludicrous.
This is...not true at all? But go off.
