Oof, 8 weeks? That sucks. It’s so hard to keep motivation up for that long when you’re not seeing progress. I sympathize! And I commend your dedication and perseverance.

Obligatory:

I posted a few weeks ago about trying to lose weight and working with a dietician. Things have been going . . . poorly. I told the dietician that I feel uncomfortable with the amount that I am eating— i.e. a lot. She checked with her boss, came back to me, and advised me to increase my calories. Um. . . no. It’s been

I read the full nyt article this morning and was enthralled. It is definitely worth taking the time to read. The allegations are repulsive and stomach-churning.

Years ago, I was an intern writing for a blog. That summer I wrote a number of articles on the iPad, which was new at the time. I was young and naive and I thought that I was ~so~ smart. Thinking the craze over the iPad was overblown, I wrote a paragraph of two that was pretty snarky. I caught some well-deserved

To be fair, he is a former McKinsey consultant. That would suggest that he may share some of your negative feelings.

Thank you for saying exactly what I have been thinking, not just on this article but on just about every Buttigieg article on this site. They don’t like him because of his font? What?

I like Pete. A lot. I agree with the criticism that he needs to talk more about substantive policy, but he has plenty of time for that. I can’t help but laugh when people say he lacks experience. Where were you in 2008 and 2016? Obama and Trump both lacked government experience. What I like about Pete is that he seems

Agree that Buttigieg should be on the ticket. But I am puzzling over your description of BAPCPA. Credit card debts are still largely subject to the discharge. Is your point about the debt caps in Chapter 13s?

I have not read his college essay, but I’m over here fan-girling over Mayor Pete. I have binge watched all his interviews and he is fantastic. I have been apathetic about every candidate—they seem too preened and politician-y  (looking at you Booker and Warren). But I am genuinely excited about Buttigeg. I hope people

Whoa—thank you for taking the time to write this! This is really helpful information. My diet has changed, and I am eating more than what I was before. It is discouraging to see the scale stagnate when I hear people who go on, say, the keto diet and immediately drop 5 pounds. But you’re right--I need to be patient

Thank you for posting this—I appreciate the encouragement! You’re totally right that I need to give it more time. I am keeping my fingers crossed that once I get through my hormonal cycle, I will start losing. But it’s so hard in the mean time! Thank you for the reminder that I need to be patient. Good luck to you!

Oh girl. Do NOT blame yourself for that nonsense. I respect that you are close with his brother, but also ignore that silly comment about being too complex. He is a person who has made his own choices. If he is radical, that is because he has chosen to believe radical stuff. That is not your fault or your problem.

I have decided to really try to lose weight. I gained a bunch of weight from stress about 2 years ago and haven’t been able to lose it. I feel like I’ve tried everything—admittedly a lot of stuff I’ve done was not healthy. But I’m working with a nutritionist and working out every day. I’m drinking a ton of water,

I agree with you and I can’t believe her comments. I can’t believe how many people there are out there who defend him and who justify his actions.

CaptOtter, I have read and starred a bunch of your thoughts on this article and I just want to say that I am LIVING for your comments. What a great explanation of the poisonous tree doctrine. And it’s nice to see a rational thinker on this board.

If you unknowingly buy a stolen car and the rightful owner subsequently comes to claim it, then should you lose both the car and the money you paid for it?

I totally agree with you. As to the kids who did not know about the fraud, if they are doing well enough in their classes, they should be allowed to stay. (Its a different story for the kids who were 18 and knew what their parents were up to . . .)

Yes! I agree! And the look of panic in LVP’s eyes in the interview scenes. She can barely sit still! Her voice is an octave higher! This is reality TV gold!

If John Blizzard isn’t a made-up name, I’ll eat my hat.
