There are also about ten parent companies of big-name brands who HAVE fucked over their customers, make rather dodgy rip-offs of new colours designed by indie companies, and have actively covered up unsafe products.

Do you really do that? Because store-bought glitter isn’t solvent stable and will leech into the varnish. Anything given half a minute and a good swirl will end up being murky silver flakes in a yellow-brown base.

This is one shitty company, though. What you’re saying is like saying fuck every chocolate that isn’t Hershey’s because ONE confectioner used shitty ingredients.

‘xactly! I dont do mainstream polishes. Indies all the way! I have been using indies for about 5 years without a single problem. #isupportindies

My base supplier - who actually supply to the big brands - is cancelling their neon tinters.

Here’s an example of things I have yet to find outside of indie brands:

If you’re lookin for a white base with multi colored glitter there are several other famous ones out there like Pretty & Polished Jawbreaker and KbShimmer Oh Splat to just name a couple.

Maybe it’s the polish addict in me, but in my head I’m screaming “They aren’t even close!” And i see your DL and raise you a stunning ILNP Multichrome in Sirene (Holo). http://www.ilnp.com/nail-polish/si…

I dunno, it’s just personal preference I guess? Digital Nails is one of my fave brands bc I am a fan of the maker, and the inspirations/names of the polishes. I have about 10-15 DN polishes and I absolutely cannot find an equivalent of every one in a mainstream brand. She has thermal glitters, holographic

ooooh wow, normal glitter will NOT hold up in nail polish, be very careful!!! The stuff you can buy at craft stores will melt if you leave it in the nail polish base. Indie nail polish (should) all use a much sturdier glitter that can last years sitting on the shelf.

I’ve never seen any polish remotely like this one in a drug store or with names as amazing as this one.

And I dont think that base is the problem. He bought base from a company that provides to major companies too. He did something else to fuck this up.

Good topic to discuss, however I suggest adding other sources as that particular blogger has a dubious reputation in the indie polish world for trolling for blog hits and childish behavior (oh, I’m sure her reaching out to Jezebel was purely as altruistic move and not part of her delusions of grandeur).

Reputable indie companies do test. They wear and use the product. Friends and family wear test for reactions, fading, etc. These aren’t people mixing chemicals in a basement, they have labs. Unless you are Mentality many companies do care!

For the full story please read this and add it to the story. This has been happening since last September. Other indie companies do not act this way.

There is specualtion that they are making their own base as Danny admitted to degassing their base, which is not needed with premade. However, he pulled those comments a long with many others. The sad thing is, this article only touches the tip of the iceberg with this whole debacle.

There are hundreds of indie brands out there. Mentality is one exception. Polish M’ is one of my favorites (@creativenailchick on instagram, there is a strong indie nail polish community there). She recently posted her ingredients after this to be transparent.

He is completely and utterly insane! Hilarious to read his quotes, not so funny for the customers whose nails have been damaged though. It’s nail polish darling, just nail polish, you are not curing cancer,

Yeah, but then you miss out on super amazing polishes like this
