I’m fairly certain I didn’t say all “good kids” do these things, or even most. I’m just saying it isn’t uncommon. I’m saying parents sometimes think their child is incapable of partying or smoking or having sex because they are all of the things you mentioned. Excelling at student life does not negate the

I get what you’re saying. I wish the show had made it clear that the teens weren’t responsible for her suicide. Their actions perhaps contributed to her feelings of isolation and depression. Teens in general lack the tools to deal with these feelings on their own. I think as a society we need to teach kids to be

Yes! Her note to him was a cry for help. All these people saying she didn’t try to get help are wrong. She went to the counselor, she wrote that note to Zach, and the anonymous note in class. She didn’t go to her parents because they were dealing with their own stuff and she thought that she couldn’t talk to them

Well these are all supposedly “good kids”. Honor students, star athletes, etc. My experience in high school was that these were the students that were doing the most drinking, partying, and raising hell in general. It isn’t like the kids in the show were drinking every night (except maybe Jessica and Bryce). We

Something being normal isn’t an indicator of it being right. I’m not saying they should have taken the blame for her killing herself. Kids should, however, take the blame for hurting other kids whether that is through bullying or standing by when someone is victimized.

“Not believable that no one would report his crimes to police or each other or parents” - I’m sorry but that is very believable. In fact, there is a trial going on not to far away from my hometown where a man raped a 13 year old girl and people (her friends) knew about it and yet no one reported it.

But, most of them aren’t sorry. I mean, not really. They just don’t want their parents or school to find out. A few are sorry, a few a begrudgingly sorry, and a few don’t seem to care whatsoever.

A lot of the characters don’t feel like they actually “wronged her” and say so repeatedly throughout the series. They say she’s lying, or that her truth isn’t their truth, etc. They definitely don’t all turn over a new leaf because her tapes showed them the way. Some of them don’t really care at all.

Definitely should have been expanded upon.

This was my impression too. The show is more about how your actions can affect others, even if you think what you did wasn’t bad or that harmful.

I think they alluded to her having problems at her previous school but it was never really explained

Are parents removed from teenagers lives? My experience is that oftentimes, yes they are. When your child becomes a teen many parents use that opportunity to “have their own lives again”. Not all or most, but many.

Right, but you implied the people who watch it are “looky-lous, wanting a cheap shot of shock and surprise.”

I have to agree with this.

Luckily we are all entitled to our own opinions and aren’t forced to watch things that we don’t like.

I’ve watched the entire show, and I thought overall it was well done. There is the argument that the concept of Hannah leaving the tapes glorifies suicide, which I’m not sure I can argue with. However, I didn’t think the actual suicide scene was gratuitous. I won’t go into details about it, but I thought it was

They have girlfriends?!?!

As a Kansan I am both laughing and crying at that statement

Yes! This trend has got to go.

S4 is really good. Leagues above S3.
