I don’t understand. If you “never” wanted a wedding... don’t have one?

What reason other than protection would the government have to care about gender binary? I had assumed the issue was over IDs and the government’s need to know our sex at all has to do with being able to find us if we become a suspect/victim or something? How would it (on the surface) not be about protection?

I feel like the job of a journalist is to put stuff in context, which is totally missing here. This seems like a hit piece on SR if you don’t include the information that... literally everyone does this in all industries that have reviews.
