Not my general takeaway from the article, I was responding to someone saying people might be less likely to believe this woman because she is trans and I don’t think the public at large would know that (since she’s not super famous) and would just assume she’s a woman from any headlines about it.

It’s “I believe the person I know over the person I don’t know”.

I wouldn’t even know they were trans if the article didn’t point it out.

Are these real standards? or are these made up government standards bought by agri lobbyists? (It sounds like I’m a conspiracy theorist, I’m not, that is how US standards got made).

I’m not sure my advice applies bc in government I think roles/titles are more tightly defined and pay is tied to that, but at my work people will say “this is how much we can pay you” and pay another person in the same role significantly more bc they are talking about how much they can pay for the revenue that person…

yeah shit like this is exactly why people don’t take the pay gap seriously. this is like a softball to conservatives to knock down because it’s so poorly argued.

It wasn’t a horror movie!!!!! This actually makes me happy, because I loved it, but I think if we continue to think about it as a horror movie, it’s not going to age well. It’s satire and as far as that goes it’s excellent.

I don’t think people pledge to die for the president, but for their families and the idea of a country that is theirs, and other American ideals they love.

“brought to the masses” is very different than making someone a thought leader. Everyone should think about feminism, not everyone’s thoughts on feminism are of equal value.

Nothing is more depressing to me than the fact that we look for the best take on feminism from a pop star.
