United offers less leg room than almost any other major carrier. If they don’t want people wearing leggings, maybe give them enough room to sit comfortably in more-formal clothes?

A minor child is not a representative of the company and literally no passenger on any flight would expect them to be one, even if it was the pilot’s or the CEO’s kid.
Is United paying people to comment here or something? Who cares if they were using an employee pass, she was 10. Why are they letting children use the pass if they’re going to hold them to ridiculous dress codes?
Imagine if this had been mentioned several times in the article you skimmed. Just imagine!
Yeah, I think the gate agent made a mistake. I have flown nonrev before via a friend who works for an airline, and they told me about the policy up front, so I didn’t have a problem with it, but I don’t think the gate agent should have made this call.
As the parent of an autistic child who will not wear anything *but* leggings, I can assure you that this policy is not at all family friendly.
I fly United from the PNW to the deep South to visit my SO. I have the options of United, Delta, and American when I fly into that particular regional airport. I choose United because their layover hub is directly on the way to my final destination (whereas Delta would have a layover in ATL, which isn’t on the way,…
I’ve been a pass traveler, too, but I’ve seen this policy enacted in wildly different ways from site to site (and from agent to agent). If you’re going to have a policy, it shouldn’t be selectively applied, and a company should always be very careful not to criticize the apparel of younger children.
Yeah I thought this was going to be a story about 20-ish girls in see-thru leggings. Some leggings aren’t meant to be worn as pants. The leggings on a 10-year-old? ARE PANTS.
Those vases are beautiful. I wish I had that kind of skill. When I was little I loved going to ceramics and pottery classes. However mine ended up mostly being “ashtrays” because there was nothing else they could be. I saw they have a pottery wheel for kids and I’m thinking of getting one for my little’s birthday.…
I read SNS every week and never post but just have to vent/complain/cry a little. My dad’s cancer just came back for the 2nd time in a year and a half. Each time, he’s done treatment, he’s been a champ and rocked it, and the first scans a month or so after treatment show no trace, and the doctors are pleased. They…
Sorry to tell you this, but this is kind of a dealbreaker, if each of you has their mind 100% made up.
The number seems low.
Yeah, there really isn’t much you can do in that situation. For my friends with kids, I am willing to meet them much more than halfway, because I get it. I’ll drive to them when I’m home, hang out in their living room with the kids if there are no sitters, but they have to be on board and welcoming those visits…
Did you see Small Island? It was so good, and it’s major theme was, indeed, race (people of color) relations in the U.K.
To irrelevancy, and beyond!
If I’m honest, it was a rough week. My beloved cat Chelsea passed away on Monday from cancer. While I’m glad she’s not in pain, my heart is still shattered. She really and truly was a hilarious, loving, cuddly pain in the butt and I miss her so much.
