I love it when you see an actor in two very different roles in quick succession. It really gives you a feel for their range. And Ferdinand to Sarek... wow. This guy’s great.

To me, it came off how it was actually said. Awkward and wrong. If he had said “for parsecs” or “in parsecs” I would have been fine with it. But he said “in the parsec”, which is just awkward and wrong. Of course, I’m sure Favreau put that in there deliberately, just to needle people who complain about the original

Werner says something like “you’re the best bounty hunter in the parsec”, as if a parsec is an area or volume. It’s like saying you’re the best plumber in the mile.

Well, actually, the English use the pound as a measure of weight as well. I once bought mushrooms at a farmer’s market, and the price was in pounds per pound. It’s a wonder that country hasn’t simply divided itself into unitless non-existence.

It was used incorrectly as a unit of distance in Star Wars, and incorrectly as a unit of area or volume in The Mandalorian.

I also prefer the Tempest. It has three levels, though. The Captain’s quarters, for example, is directly underneath the bridge, and the vidcon conference room is on the top level by itself.

Well, actually, she’s the best soccer player in the Solar System.

On another note: this episode was a real time of me learning all the names I’ve been mispronouncing for more than half my life. “Iorek,” “Iofur,” and “Pekkala” in particular.

I think once you’re using the word “cancelable”, you’re already trolling. But the answer is, call me when she commits or abets sexual harrassment.

Yeah, that’s a good point. So many novel adaptations get hund up on trying to translate the “inner voice” of characters, and the daemons are a perfect solution  to that problem. They have definitely not been exploting the possibilities here.

I wondered that, too. Boreal seems a little too comfortable in our world. I really don’t see the point of the Boreal scenes... any of them, really.

If you look at Fig. 2B, it certainly looks like a year-old dog has methylation hallmarks similar to a 30 year old human. How much methylation remodeling accounts for what we call “aging” is a bigger question, but it’s certainly picking up something important.

Or 56, in New Dog Years.

1. take the natural log of your dog’s age

Stupid animators, wanting to not get treated like garbage!

True, but Sue also skirted that line from time to time.

I am also still holding a grudge for the “American-style pie” nonsense.

Warren is the Senator for my district

People need to accept that words are polysemous. “Colony”can simply mean a settlement, and in fact that’s how it’s often used in science fiction. It can also refer to the sort of systematic exploitation of conquered peoples exemplified by European colonialism. The senses are related, but distinct.
