It depends on where you locate youth. I don’t see teens spend as much time on YouTube as tiktok, but YouTube very much appeals to younger kids - especially Minecraft videos. Fucking Minecraft videos.

People watch at their own pace, no one is talking about a show at the proverbial water cooler since no one is on the same page.

I love that they announce these cancellations two days after I get an email of a huge increase in the Premium plan in order to have more and better content.

The only one of these shows I’ve heard of is Shadow and Bone. But I rarely watch anything on Netflix anymore. If I cancelled the subscription, it’d take weeks, if not months, for me to notice.

The other problem is that, like all of capitalism these days, companies are obsessed with “growth.” They don’t care about pleasing their existing audience, they only want to attract hypothetical new subscribers with new shows. So they throw a bunch of stuff against the wall and cancel stuff once it’s more than twenty

The problem with Capitalism is that it privatizes profits, but socializes risk.

Totally agree. And the other thing I’d add is their shows are in the spotlight for less time. HBO shows like House of the Dragon and The Last of Us got weekly coverage in the media - reviews, interviews, and speculation of what may happen next. People talked about those shows every week on social media and with

I think one of the biggest issues with any Netflix show is the model they created does not really work that well for programs designed to go on for a while.  Binging hurts TV, even  though everyone seems to love it.  But you watch a show you love in a week....and then even if season two comes on a year later it feels

lol I’m in my 50's and I’m embarrassed for you.  I have kids, so that’s a cheat code for this stuff, but some of these people are top earners in the entertainment industry.  Hell, I even recognized the guy the cameo’d in Five Nights at Freddies.

When regular employees fuck up this colossally, they don’t get ‘severance’ packages. They get promptly shown the door and told to never come back. Security will collect your things and mail them to you, and you’ll be billed for the delivery.

Its not just video games - but why is it these CEO clearly screw up and make a mess of things yet remain employed? This sounds like string of bad management decisions. C-suite should pay the price. And not with a golden parachute - they should get the same severance any other employee gets. It amazes me with the focus

Yeah, those YouTubers with millions of subscribers...total unknowns.

I remain more and more thankful that Bojack Horseman got 6 seasons and a proper finale.

That's got to be worth at least one more season of GLOW.

“Comes back up?”

Fuckin absolutely bonkers that this awful, stupid shit comes back up like this. I lurked KiA for a while just out of morbid curiosity and it really was a collection of some of the dumbest, most reactionary idiots around. I still remember when they treated Gamasutra (RIP that old name) and its press release section

Several years ago I worked as a P.A. onset of a small budget film starring Bruce Greenwood. I kept thinking “omg it’s Captain Pike” and the one time I got to speak to him I tried to make a humorous observation and he looked at me and he said “was that a joke? I thought jokes were supposed to be funny”. It was one of

It’s almost as if they’re trying to make a sitcom, and not a documentary about autism.

Though the GamerGate trolls have lessened in number since 2014 (or perhaps many of them have slunk back to their dank caves to hit their Juuls, wank, and blow the embedded food crumbs out from the crannies of their keyboards),
