The company running a game where they took away stuff you paid for says (reportedly) that it’s my fault they can’t run a business?

It’s plagiarism for tech bros to feel smug about.

As a working artist, illustrator, and designer for 10 years, I don’t see AI as anything other than a threat to my line of work, and a major cost cutting measure for those who run companies. It’s essentially negating the need to hire people who posses certain skills.

I keep seeing people using the photography example as a counterargument here but none of them address the fact that photography eventually did off commercial painting and illustration and make it substantially harder to be an artist.

Slightly off topic, but something I wished I started asking thirty- forty years ago; HOW do companies that keep wiping out their work forces, whether through automation, or ai, or simply moving all their jobs to countries that love child labour, expect people to be able to PAY for their products and services?

AI doesn’t create art, it generates images based on preconceived concepts and associated imagery. Some humans also work in that way, but art needs to be filtered through the intent, perspective and emotion of the personal human experience.

Welcome to humanity, you new here?

“Convenience” has driven every major paradigm shift throughout civilization as well as the rape and destruction of our planet. Just because the ruling class with the capital no longer wears literal crowns, and slavery hides behind things like tying healthcare to employment, doesn’t

Something that was so good about the first RDR was it’s ease of access. It was GTA in the early 20th century and it worked. It was a game you could play however you wanted to, including the online version. RDR2 very much expects you to play the game a certain way and punishes when you don’t.

I don’t want to burst anyone’s bubble, but what they’re describing in the patent reads as Rockstar’s solution for animation blending and procedural animation to replace NaturalMotion’s Morpheme (animation blending) and Euphoria (procedural animation synthesis) that they’ve used to date. I remember their job listings

I got sick of watching Arthur mosey sloooooooooooooooooooooooowly up to a table, angle himself juuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuust right, reach out, pick up the pack of cigarettes, and then sloooooooooooooooooowly mosey up half a foot to right, angle himself juuuuuuuuuuuuuuuust right, reach out, pick up the silver watch, and

Fucking amen. That game is filled with time-wasters: little animations that just draw shit but, oh! They looked good - viewing them once. After the first two or three times you see them they just get in the way.

I suppose this mean the game will be even slower  than Red Dead 2.

The Wii had nearly-mandatory motion controls, man. That’s the definition of unconventional design, regardless of its internal components.

And everything you just described about the Switch—particularly with the detachable controller and “video-out port” is also unconventional design. Otherwise, why hadn’t any other

“Every time”? N64 was a pretty big success, The GameCube was a bit of a failure, the Wii was a MASSIVE success, the WiiU was a failure, the Switch was a MASSIVE success. Every handheld they’ve released has become a huge success, even if not right away.

Contrary opinion: I would have found it very satisfying indeed for Arya Stark to assassinate one of the architects of her family’s brutal destruction. It wouldn’t have been a “fight”, but the whole time I watched Arya sneak into King’s Landing I thought that’s what they were leading towards. Not girl runs from dragon

This pretty much encapsulates it:

Well, that, and their main one was an alternate history where the Confederacy and slavery still existed, being made by two white guys in the US in 2017. That it took til *2020* (a year after the finale) for it to actually be officially shitcanned is beyond me, but then, I’ve never tried cocaine.

Yeah, the “I just got bored of it” didn’t help their careers at all, understandably.

I agree. They should’ve just handed it off to other people who actually gave a shit.

It’s the modern Hollywood version of The Goose That Laid The Golden Eggs.
