Not sure why people care if the movie goes “backwards” or not. Mad Max has never had an ongoing story. I’m expecting for this to be an interesting stand alone story more than a real prequel.

Star Wars continuity has been pretty broken ever since Leia became Luke’s sister. Anakin knowing R2D2 and building 3P0 just burned it to the ground. 

If they had to continue it it should have been an anthology with new characters and new supernatural things every time.
