 But it’s not a tax “break” they spend the money on upkeeping the land around Disney that would otherwise bankrupt the local areas.  The only reason Florida doesn’t have a state income tax is all the taxes paid by Disney and MGM parks.  So in this case, they’re paying and then some. 

It’s more an “enemy of my enemy” sort of situation.  I can’t imagine siding with Disney in almost anything, but damn if DeSantis didn’t find a way.

The French judge dropped the charges for lack of evidence, not because he was proven innocent. The accuser is currently pursuing a complaint against the judge in question.

There isn’t a long term plan. It seems the entire state Republican machine is dedicated to fucking over anyone and everyone to propel Ol’ Pudding Fingers into his futile campaign to be a bigger dick than Donnie the Con, no matter the cost.

Kind of makes you wonder what exactly the long term plan of Florida Republicans is. The insane Boomers who are their voter base will be mostly dead in 20 years and at that point the state is going to screwed when rising sea levels send most of the state underwater.

So this is what we get when oil companies have pocketed massive profits off of their offshore drilling over the past few decades? Fuck the oil companies. They need to be the ones paying for fixing this, not taxpayers.

I’m sure the oil and gas industry will get right on using their record profits to cap all those wells. as they are known for their stellar record of responsibility!

Are there some kind of legal shenanigans with shell companies going on that corporations can drill these wells, extract all of the $$, and then walk away leaving the cost of clean-up to the taxpayers? Sounds like any company wanting to drill should first be required to obtain a contract bond to ensure they don’t walk…
