Without a doubt my favorite game of all time and still the one that I have stuck the most time into (120 hours on steam & 40 on XBL). If all of our Disqus accounts weren’t ethered you could go back on pretty much every Friday whatcha playin’ thread an see me musing about Spelunky from when it was released on steam in

I have never felt more seen before. I’m shook.

I used to think of Voyager as bottom tier but after a rewatch on Netflix I consider as basically tied with DS9 where as that one gets points for telling some actually good stories, Voyager gets points for just being a guilty goofy pleasure.

You might not have heard this anywhere yt but... the Witcher III... is good.

Hope they can get Kes from Voyager since I heard the actress went insane. I’m joking of course Kes was boring. Neelix and Tuvok 4 life.

Every time I hear about Metroid Other M I want to kick down the doors at Nintendo HQ and shout “WHO LET THIS HAPPEN!?!?”

Blitzball is a numbers game and I’ve forgotten all the numbers but if I remember right it’s mostly optional. Final Fantasy X is probably neck and neck with IX as my favorite Final Fantasy. The story and world both shine but for me it was the characters that really send it over the top. Also just a good no non-sense

The cons of David Cage continuing to get giant piles of money from Sony to make disgustingly predictable and generic “film-inspired” video trash is that it keeps happening. The pro is I get to have fun online reading other people say how shit he is.

David Cage is so basic his favorite action movie is probably Jack Reacher.

Slow gaming week for me. I haven’t had a chance to play God of War more than once so I haven’t made it very far. So I’ll just talk about how much I love the Axe recall in terms of game feel. I chalk this up to a lot of factors but to put it simply I’m going to bullet them below.

Inside does a great job with atmosphere too while introducing a subdued amount of color to the world. It might be recency bias but I think Inside outdoes even the fantastic Limbo in terms of aesthetic and story.

I think it looks completely different from the old ones but still dope as hell. It basically looks like God of Dark Souls to me which is a cha-ching in my book. Plus by the time GoW3 came out I was getting tired of the formula (cool as the spectacle was).

I would honestly be happy if they just made more PS1 and PS2 games available on the store. Yes, I have complained before about having to buy games twice but we know it’s possible, it just seems like they don’t want to allocate the resources to do it. Lucky for me though, my old PS2 from the 00s still hasn’t Disc Read

Holding and releasing stick buttons!? Fuck that! That sounds like the fastest way to a cramped hand I can think of. Even now, just miming that thumb push and hold it takes to pull off I’m getting cramped. Hopefully they can patch that out because the world needs more FFT knockoffs.

Those Eldrazi titans are dope as hell. I’m a sucker for cosmic horror in fantasy and pretty much drool for any name that sounds like [verb]er of [heady concept]. Flayer of Dreams, Muncher of Souls, Pulverizer of Longing, Eviscerator of Peace, Decimator of Self-Esteem... I could do this all day!

I played one storyline of the many available in Wheels of Aurelia and wasn’t in love with it. Somehow I messed up tailing a Facist Terrorist and later one of the two girls in my car was killed in a bombing attack. All that because I couldn’t figure out which car I was supposed to follow. You’re right on about the

Limbo is a truly fantastic game. Make sure to add Inside, the spiritual sequel, to your list of games to play after it as well. It usually goes on sale for 7 or 8 bucks every couple of months on the PS Store.

There is definitely a cult canon for video games and as your list indicates, it’s mostly wacky Japanese games that came about during their heyday. What qualifies something as a cult classic and not just a mediocre game that didn’t get much attention though? There are lots of okay stuff (Eternal Sonata comes to mind)

I haven’t posted in here very much lately as I’ve been super busy with a kitchen remodel and other stuff. I’ve barely played any games in that time besides random bouts of Trackmania Turbo. The game is refreshing in it’s unabashed game-ness. Here’s a score, here’s a track, beat it. That’s the game. It’s arcade

Yeah, they coined the phrase the “tallest midget in the world” to describe their situation in the music world. They seem to have really hit a pretty solid streak though after the 00's. I know they sell out the big venue in my town pretty regularly.
