I’m pretty sure there was no need to skip picking up loot, just sticking to killing the same enemy types. The loot will upgrade with the kill chain regardless of if you pick items up along the way.

Speaking of the Stormblood expansion. I find it rather crappy that in order to get ahold of the Collector’s Edition, we had to order it from Square’s own online store. A game full of nothing but bosses, and you have to climb all over their bodies, while they try to shake you off and kill you, just so you can get to their weak points.

That said, the world is beautiful, and there’s much deeper meaning to the game than what you just see.

Those are the names given to the characters when they’re used as battle fodder. They’re “dolls”. Copies of the characters to be used as mass-produced troops for their chosen deity in the story.

Claiming a game is a ripoff of another is a completely worthless argument. Unless code is copied line-for-line and/or assets from the inspiration are used, there is absolutely nothing wrong with a game being created in a similar style.
