It feels like a Vince Gilligan show that has been shoehorned in to a CBS procedural…and, in fact, that's what it is. The two styles just don't work together.

Awww. The show has promise (mostly because of Winters), but it's really lackluster. I am mostly forcing myself to watch it at this point. Maybe it will find a new home on USA, instead?
Right! I think you're the one who is most correct.
Yes! You've described it better than I could. King's definitely writing a reaction against the nostalgia, but he is very much obsessed with the Boomer story.
If you replace "Rockefeller and Carnegie" with "all aristocrats," that sounds exactly like a description of Downton Abbey, so…probably.
You see, when a showrunner loves money very, very much…
Then why does he just keep standing there…watching us?
I'm…actually looking forward to this a lot. It's like Gossip Girl meets There Will Be Blood.
Hahahahahaha.
*Oliver Stone cries softly into his pillow.*
I did not like that book at all. I thought it was strangely stiff and dull—way too much baby boomer nostalgia for me. The writing was good, of course, but the plot bored me and the details never came alive.
Thanks, I'll check that out! Oswald has a very interesting story, but I'm consistently disappointed with the fictionalized material about him (well, weirdly, I thought the X-Files did a fun job with Oswald).
Ohhhh, that gets us into the penetration question!!! Excellent.
Arby's can't watch, or he has to pay $100.
Wendy's will be there for the two lesbians named Wendy who just want to tie the knot, already.
Yes, I do not share the value of short-term profits over long-term gains. I am hardly the first person to criticize Yahoo! on this score. Also, I definitely don't fall in to the trap of thinking that the simplest explanation is the correct one (the actual rule of thumb is, "all things being equal, the simplest…
Ah, it's very different to say that something is technically illegal v. "a judge wouldn't hear it." A) I happen to think some judges would hear it; B) some things are illegal but judges still wouldn't sit through the case (for example, sodomy was still illegal in some states in the 1990s—few judges would sit through…
@ffffefjjj:disqus As others have pointed out, rape is not penetration by force. It is penetration without consent (see the FBI definition). I just want to repeat that, so everyone is very, very clear on that extremely important fact.
1) I refuse to acknowledge your translation of my comment, as I didn't say the COMPANIES were stupid, I said that the CONTRACT was stupid.
I think other episodes of the show are better than the first episode, but I don't think you need to worry about seeing it.
