I think that's what Continuum is TRYING to do, but without a consistent moral center, the show often spins off its own axis. I don't need a didactic Animal Farm, but the show has really suffered from losing a person like Kagame—someone to give the show the occasional philosophical monologue.

If Continuum would only do a better job filling in characters using dialogue and consistent character beats…sigh.

And her mom!

I like your theory! Though I also have a suspicion that these plotlines could work better in film form or with a different set of characters. This last season felt like whiplash.

The central terrorist group is right, but it's also destabilizing and predictably splintered. I appreciate that there are no "good" guys on the show.

Huh. I find that the point it's making gets really muddled as time goes on. Nichols becomes more engaging while the plots become less centered.

Hopefully this means less time-filler eps, which S3 was riddled with.

Honestly, I think the truncated schedule might be helpful. Last season, Continuum felt like it was trying too hard to come up with new plots to keep the show going. With less time, maybe they'll keep close to the main Keira/Alec/Liber8 plotlines, all of which have almost been tied up, anyway.

In the finale, they go back in time to screw up the story arc of the show.

That's Scully on this show.

I see the show as a fantasy about how great it would be if a police force actually cared about people and had a sense of humor.

I thought they did a particularly good job with Holt's story as a gay, black cop in the 70s and 80s—and how that gave him a bond with female cops, etc.

They showed what cops SHOULD do. Apprehend the suspect without killing anyone, using the minimum level of necessary force.

That's why they make a great team!

He said it with a lot of cheerful forcefulness. I think he was pointing out that he JUST remembered her name, and he expected her to coo in happy surprise.

Does this mean we get to do more work?

Could be a eugenics-type issue at this point, but I agree that it's an obvious solution to their problem.

And Raven!

Sorry, I just know too many people who have her narcissistic personality traits.

Seems like, for such a high profile case, you'd want to read the statute and case law first.
