Compared to my NC Miata, the C7 Corvette is just “harder” to drive. It is brilliant when you drive it hard; but, this is real life. It is impossible to drive a 460HP sport car “hard” on a regular basis. So I leave it parked most of the time.

I’ve been holding my tongue for a while because enough people harp on this elsewhere. But a significant portion of the transportation solution already exists. I’m as much as a electric and petrol fan as anyone here, but also realize traffic, energy and environment are real issues:
What reason is there for a rotary engine to exist? I never understood this. I’m all for another Mazda sports car, but why can’t they use a conventional engine?
It just needs a few modifications and it’s production-ready!
It’s almost hilarious how poorly this design has aged, especially on the inside. I don’t know how it passed for anything “luxurious” even when it was new.
I still can’t get over how chintzy post-90s, but pre-bailout, GM interiors look as compared to other cars of the time.
What he’s trying to say is that you can only stop as fast as your lowest common denominator. The Kia “Optimauto” will require more distance to stop from 60mph than the Porsche “911A”, so the programs would have to assume the worst. On top of that, as people fail to maintain their vehicles, braking distances will…
Jalopnik writers and most of the commentariat imagines that 1) “the law” is some sort procedure manual for driving, which it certainly isn’t, and 2) that it is a cohesive, thought-out system when it’s mostly a collection of ad-hoc political reactions to interest groups and public pressure.
As someone who has had an Integra that died on the road from ignition module failure, has had to help many family with ford transmission issues, and had to repair a falling apart cavalier for my father, this hits home. Also have a buddy that drives a 240SX and hits everything on the road. Well done.
You sir are looking for the Intercontinental, a car that spans multiple time zones.
That’s odd. Because to a Canadian, NAFTA makes the US look like Mexico. Undercutting Canadian wages because they have don’t have universal healthcare and other benefits.
Yeah. Not true. They’ve had an auto industry as long as we have, essentially. Fuck off with this.
If you are smoking, buy a preroll. DO NOT purchase anything with a THC content higher than 20%, aim for about 12-16%. Decide if you want to sit on a couch or go do stuff, are you interested in head (giggle weed) or body (can we order in?) and express this to the bud tender. Have water bottles handy. One hit is good.…
Like have never taken weed? I would get a light joint and stay away from edibles until you know how you’ll react/what your tolerance is.
Subways don’t make money. Their positive effects on growth and congestion make them worth subsidising though. Of course just because you can’t expect to break even doesn’t mean that running efficiently shouldn’t be a goal.
Look at Vancouvers SkyTrain light rail system.
Hmmm it’s like the system works well but requires some user interaction. Like having a dog.
Depends on the market, though. The used car market in Britain is a buyer’s paradise, so if you’re buying a car for your bairn you can buy a pretty nice car that’s only a few years old for ~£5000.
I actually like the Smart Fortwo. It makes ZERO sense, I’m aware. But it was kind of fun.
Tell me how much damage you think those itty bitty little hybrids are doing to the roads? Very, very little. Medium duty and larger - i.e. Semis - do more damage in one trip that 10 dozen hybrids. Which pays more per mile? Why the big trucks because they use more gas. We already pay road use taxes per mile traveled…
