Heat makes much less of a difference on EVs equipped with heat pumps, too. Had a Kona EV as a company car for a while. Heat on vs heat off was around 5%. The heat was near instant-on, too: the time between “car on” and “air is hot” was about 30 seconds.

Tesla farts $10.5m. It's a meanless sum of money to a business of that scale.

You’re making a brave assumption that it’s something that can be, or will be fixed. It’s hardware on both ends (the keyfob and the BCM/ TPMS radio), and neither end is necessarily updatable. Even if it could be updated, Honda will have absolutely no obligation to fix it. It’s not much different than an ignition switch

Frankly, Jalopnik: why are you spreading this information around? Do you think this will better the lives of Honda owners?

In fairness, that could be said of every gas station brand's CEO.

Hmm. Got called and absolutely yelled at for “using their parking lot as storage for three weeks!” for a Fleet-owned Tucson. Threatening to tow it if it isn’t picked up in 30 minutes. I responded with “you mean the one which has been towed to you due to engine failure? I take it that you haven’t even gotten started on

GM surpassing Toyota makes a lot of sense right now: Toyota can’t sell cars if it can’t produce them. We put in an order for 120 Toyotas as a fleet order and got flat-out declined!

Lol, nailed it. Loaded 2010 Prius is the daily driver, because Toyota reasons. Also ‘01 S2000, ‘12 fortwo (long story, but neat little thing!).

Just got our first batch of Ford’s (Escape Hybrids) in an otherwise Japanese and Korean fleet of ~800 vehicles at work. We haven’t ordered Fords in almost a decade. Only four have been delivered so far, and one has a stuck-open thermostat. Two have had their B-pillar plastic panels come out of the mould with so much

In fairness, what is that security staffer going to do about it? They’ve got the powers of a mall cop. They can phone the police, but not much else. If gates are being rammed, the security staff is completely powerless.

I’m really concerned about some of the upcoming EVs. 1000hp, in the Hummer EV - a 9000lb vehicle. Surely the type of person who buys one of those will be “responsible”...

You need to consider resale value in your considerations, and you can’t really say “the battery will fail at the time of warranty expiration” unless you also say “the engine of the ICE vehicle will fail at the time of warranty expiration”! Neither is likely to happen.

It's a breathtaking design, through and through. It just has so much going for it!

The math is simple and easy to do - the savings are no joke. Do the TCO calculations.

Everybody I know who bought a discounted EV in 2020 is -very- happy with their choice, and is grinning from ear to ear right now.

That would be a $426 fill, here in Vancouver.

We were at $2.36/L today in Vancouver. That’s $8.92 CAD / gal. I’m not converting currency as we don’t earn USD.

Yup. $2.36/L in Vancouver today. That's $8.92 CAD / gallon. I'm not converting currency, because we don't earn USD.

How many were actually available for purchase? Between supply chain problems and wars, our local VW dealers have been absolutely bare: not a new car on the lot.
