“Let me just add 400 lbs of shit, and screw up the aerodynamics of this even more”.

Most full-size SUVs. They’re uniquely terrible. They’re too small inside to haul anything large. Their seating setup is always less useful than a minivan. Their fuel economy is poor and they’re lousy to drive. They tend to have so-so towing capacity, which few owners use.

Hot take: compare an early 4th gen to the Lexus LF-A. The design language is the same, with some really comparable features.

3rd and 4th gen Prius are downright gorgeous. They have pronounced flowing lines, daring curves. They’re a unique design.

To anybody who does the Can-USA thing frequently, get Nexus. It just makes everything monumentally easier.

though, nobody ever bought an old Frontier at anything close to MSRP. 4 cylinder ones in SV trim could be had for about $22k Canadian, new.

In any real-world use case where dense city use is the actual use case, fuel economy hardly matters as you'll rarely do more than 5000km / year anyways.

This just blows my mind. Canadian here: we’ve had chip+pin for 15 years or so? I think tap has been around for about ten years?

Anybody who lives in a really dense city. Very few American cities (SF is all that comes to mind) need apply.

Ehh, the iQ kinda sucked. I had a 2012 iQ for about three years, and currently have a 2012 fortwo.

Do you have a 120v wall plug in your garage? That’s all you really need. Good for about 5km of range per hour of charging with most EVs. If you park your car at 6pm and use it again at 6am, you’ve got 60km of range. Top it up while you’re at a supermarket.

It’s a self-feeding problem. Highly intelligent people who use science and data to make decisions are typically not the religious types. The absolute last thing I want is somebody who believes in creationism to be making decisions for a population.

Whoever ordered it and expected to receive it at a given date as part of their business plan is going to be very annoyed.

Blows my mind that in the USA, you almost need some sort of religion affiliation to be successful in politics. I’ll never understand that.

“Beta 9” is far too optimistic of a title for this, considering it’s in customers’ hands. More like “Alpha 0.9".

We're at $1.719 / L in Vancouver, BC. Roughly $6.50/gal.

It’s kind of a uniquely North American thing too. Selling an item in Japan? Miniaturize it and add features to add value to the customer.

1st-3rd gen Prius are not at all exciting. 4th is decent. Low-spec W124s are surprisingly lousy. Tons of body roll, over-assisted steering. Trying to compare a W124 to a Prius is like comparing Jello to a Twinkie. They're both totally "bleh". In this case, the Jello costs 1/3, burns 1/3 the fuel, has a new-car

Rose coloured glasses, man. The 230E is good for 134hp. 0-100km/h in 10.4s. Prius does it in 10.6.

You wouldn’t have to spend nearly $60k to get that. Go buy a new Prius. It’s nicer in every way to drive, light years safer, burns about 1/3 the fuel, has more cargo space and is just about the definition of reliable.

This W124 is really cool - but let’s be honest, it’s simply an obsolete car which doesn’t do anything
