I dunno. Had a Regal GS. It was shockingly bad. Lousy interior for a car that expensive. Chrome trim around the shifter was like a mirror that did nothing but blind me with the sun reflecting off of it quite often. Would gladly pay more for a (anything else).

Yeah. Driven a Pao in Vancouver (there’s plenty of Pao and Figaro here). They’re kind of miserable.

Eh they're fine on the highway. A bit noisy, but perfectly solid and stable. Not as slow as you might think, and the low gearing on 1-4 with the tall 5th is great.

I had a 2008 Fortwo Passion as a company car for about a year. On day 1, I was saying: “What the hell? Why me?! What did I do wrong?!”. On the last day, I was begging to keep it. Loved that car - really cute, tons of personality, a huge novelty to drive (fun, honestly!), I could park it absolutely anywhere and pull a

ugh, welcome to Vancouver (and Richmond!), everyone. Lots of money here, often not nearly as much common sense.

They don’t rent them per se. You go as a group with four cars and switch between the cars doing the drive. They have a “pace car” setup of sorts and normally cancel if the weather looks really bad. The rain yesterday probably caught them by surprise...

Well fuck. I have a gift card for Scenic Rush and was going to book it for next week. I'll... hold off on that for now.

No, but there is absolutely -no way- that something as critical as that could have passed by so many eyes without at least somebody knowing about it. That’s like saying “Apple advertised their new CPU as having six cores when it only had four”.

Certainly doesn't apply to Canada (or at least parts of Canada)!

Really can’t help but think “if you haven’t got $80,000 in the bank, never mind only $9,000 in the bank, you really shouldn’t be considering a thirsty and inevitably expensive-to-operate $40,000 car”

Neat, and makes a lot of sense!

Verbal description and a whiteboard.

Not surprised that people aren’t bringing cars in for recall - so many of them are positively stupid. I’ve got one for “there was a translation error in the French translation on the vehicle loading placard” on an NV200, and “the backup lights take too much time to turn on after the shifter is in reverse” (it’s like

Sorry, but I totally disagree. The Caliber looked awkward and rather ugly, had an interior which was absolutely garbage, even by Chrysler standards, and was up against some pretty hot competition during it’s time. It was a terrible car from the beginning. Success is always in the details, never in the specs sheet.

Drove a 1981 240D a while back. It was absolutely charming, but honestly the only car I’ve ever driven which I would call “obsolete”. It was slow enough to be an absolute pain in the ass to drive, not all that comfortable. I admire classics, but only when they're admirable. That one was not.

Entirely depends on where you live, what season you’re in, how you drive, how many thermal cycles were involved, etc.

To be fair though, some of the recalls are horseshit. I have a recall on an NV200 right now, becuase the French translation on the tire inflation sticker contains an error. Seriously.

Time to start charging some actual tax on fuel, then.

Nothing wrong with comfortable, reliable transportation: especially if you have a family who relies on it.

I have a friend who made a lot of money buying abandonned cars, repairing them and reselling them. He was friends with property managers who would get a phone call along the lines of “The condo sold at auction, but there is still a car in the parking spot, and it’s been there for years. Deal with it.”
