Ack! That's a G37 Sport. Poor thing.

Depending on if the factory one is any good or not, the stereo.

@TheRedCar: If it's an '00-03, it already spins to 9k! :)

Honestly, my '01 S2000. Nothing, absolutely not one single thing has gone wrong with it, during the three years and ~50,000km that I've owned it. I've changed fluids and wiper blades, nothing more. The accessory belt is "about due" right now, but I can't fault it for that.

@Rupunzell: No need for "it will work even if there is a failure" redundancy. If a pot wiper fails, the car falls to idle and then gets towed to the dealer. That's annoying — but not unsafe.

@Rupunzell: You're making the assumption that cable-based systems do not have the same flaws, though. If the pedal is sticking in a Toyota, that's likely due to something along the lines of a sleeve bearing on the pedal shaft sticking, or not enough spring tension. Something mechanical - and which could easily fail in

@Rupunzell: Well, the throttle-by wire systems aren't there as a cost-saving measure - they are present for emissions reasons. They "ease off" the throttle instead of instantly closing it. Less unburnt fuel, in the end.

Big thick hard zip-ties (plastic cable ties) around the driveshaft(s),with the ends left un-cut. The "What the HELL is that noise?!" reaction of the owner, plus the entirely non-destructive nature of it makes it a real winner.

I have WAY too many keys on mine (unavoidable, unfortunately)- so I simply carry my car keys separately.

I've been in an '06 Corolla taxi with 620,000km on it. Transmission swapped at 530,000km, three sets of shocks, an alternator and a starter - otherwise mostly original parts. There's a cabbie (Andrew, yellow cab #15 in vancouver) running around with a 1.4 million kilometer 2004 Prius, too. #qotd

Downtown Vancouver, for sure. 3rd and Burrard?.. #bmw335i

I dunno, but certainly not the cube =) Compared to the Fit, it's the better deal, and it's a -great- way to shuttle people around in. Call me crazy, but I really dig the goofy styling and the couch-like drive. Great car... #qotd

@theswede34: I'd probably -cry- if I saw that =(. At least you got a good F20C, transmission and differential? How much $ did it go for?

I could care less about the ES300 - those were nothing special to begin with. But an SC? Or even a GS? Shit! That's just not cool =(

Heh! I had one of those in an '85 S10. Not a bad little engine, really. The rest of the truck was a piece of crap, but that engine was still tickin' away, 20 years after manufacture (although it did drink oil at an alarming rate...)

Uggghh what a waste. To the guy who trades in a beat-to-hell early '80s F150, it's fine and great — but I absolutely hate to see stuff like that V70, Lincoln LS, hell - even the Windstars or that poor Odyssey get smashed up for absolutely no good reason — all of them are great cars. This is just an absolute waste, and
