I’m pretty sure the reason for Bran warging was to tell the Night King where he was. They’ve shown before that he can perceive when nearby animals are being controlled by Bran.

He really didnt work well as bait. He literally could have been anywhere and the battle would have worked the same. Bran’s power and abilities were useless the entire battle.
