IMHO you don’t actually need those big turrets. What’s needed is a “spinal mount” rail gun. Just point the ship in the “general” direction and let guided shells do the rest.

SMGs, being based on pistol bullets, relies on volume of fire rather than penetration. (MP5, for example, fires 9mm “Luger” Parabellum bullets). You can scale them up, like MP45 (firing .45 “Colt” ACP) but it’s still pistol bullet, not much penetration.

So they can sell more stuff, duh. :) (note that everything they used is everything they sell too)
