Great summary. Without knowing the structural details, I'm going to guess that no huge actuators were used at the joint that linked the outboard wings to the fuselage, but instead, during near-freefall, with no powered flight, the wings are left in the airstream while the fuselage is rotated to be the airbrake.

Too bad On(x) never took off. I thought it's a pretty near customizer / scripting environment for Android. It doesn't support plugins like Tasker/Locale/etc. but what it can do with Javascript is just as powerful.
