Not gonna “soldier through” on Survival difficulty with no armor, buddy. You analogy also doesn’t work because this problem actually makes most of the outfits unusable, it’s a design issue. So It’s not just an aesthetic problem. It’s a stats problem.

I’ve been using the BoS ‘under armor’, myself. Additional radiation protection, plus I fit in better with the crew over at the Prydwen ;) But yeah, that one and the vault suits are the only ones I’ve seen, so far.
