@mfnher: YES, you must rinse. It's just too gross to replace otherwise, and also there are these little air holes that need to be kept clear of any...debris. The Diva Cup is not immune to leaking, so it's a good idea to wear a pad w/ it (they sell washable cloth ones on their web site). I wouldn't worry about being

@intangiblemango: I used one living in Africa as a Peace Corps Volunteer. It was a choice between that, or having small children dig through my trash and play w/ used tampons. It was tolerable, but now that I'm back stateside, I'm back to (admittedly more wasteful) tampons and pads. One of my fellow Volunteers used

@Ima B. Me: Exactly what I was going to say heh. I was riding the streetcar in New Orleans w/ a male friend. When a seat opened up, my friend asked me if I wanted to sit down, and I declined, so he did. A few guys sitting behind us had not heard the conversation, and so they /made/ my friend get up and give me his

@LindsayJoy's MBP is into S+M: Um, I wouldn't call anyone narrow-minded, but often people allow themselves to be blinkered by their own beliefs. Oh, and thanks for allowing that I'm not totally amoral! That really makes me feel better. Anyway, re: atheism as a (non)religion...this article says it better than I can:

@krokodil: Also, wanted to share the response of a good friend of mine (who's Muslim): "What?? There should be a fatwa against stupid fatwas."

What the government should try and do is put a positive spin on this: MEN, aren't you tired of doing all the grocery shopping? It's boring and repetitive...doesn't that sound like something a WOMAN should be doing? Now you can just escort them to the supermarket w/ a list, and have a cigarette while they run around

@Purple Dave: Wow, Congress totally COULD outlaw atheism. Science isn't a religion either...they could ban that too (lots of people in Kansas and my state sure would looooove that). And vegetarianism...and KITTENS. Also not a religion...although cats were once worshiped in ancient Egypt so maybe there's a

@Purple Dave: a) Atheism isn't a religion. b) Christianity is hardly in danger, considering there are elements of it in our Pledge of Allegiance and PRINTED on our currency. And where are you sitting exactly? B/c I'm in the Midwest, and if it's not the Knights of Columbus campaigning against baby-killers it's the

Hmn...this looks familiar somehow...OH WAIT.

@Purple Dave: You are right, and I think it's foolish of us to discount people like Palin and O'Donnell, since clearly they wield considerable political clout. We should stop and ask ourselves WHY this is so, and try and determine what is so appealing about them and their message, instead of dismissing them, lest we

The sub-heading reads "business class." I guess they're only letting you bring one leg on a plane these days.

Hahaha, notice he didn't even write the book by himself!

I hope it's not expensive; I feel like this would be a boon for women in countries where men often refuse to wear "emasculating" condoms. This could potentially put some of the control back in women's hands.

That cow looks awfully skinny. You can see the ridge of her backbone!

@lauraholtsteele: Haha! Well, to be fair, all real Russians need to keep warm is some vodka. To make the wedding really Russian, you just need some cheap liquor, smoked salmon, and for everyone to stand in a group around the bride and groom yelling, "BITTER! BITTER!"

PLEASE, every oldest child knows that the youngest is the favorite, being "the baby."

Poor little things. Their situation is bad enough, but it breaks my heart to see those little girls already swathed up in layers, as if they should be worried about modesty or hiding themselves.

One more thing...I always, always found the cutsie baby dolls (see slide 5, Vikki Ebbeling for a prime example) astoundingly hideous. Like REALLY ugly. I cannot emphasize this enough. I am not sure why I'm even writing this comment, except I just feel so strongly about the subject.

Haha, I actually subscribed to this when I was 9 or 10. I didn't read many of the articles, but I loooooved the pictures. I have since graduated to fashion magazines. :))
