That was my first thought as well. There have been persistent whispers that the reason Ryan and McConnell are unwilling to stand up to Trump is because there is plenty of dirt on them, particularly with regard to Russian financing and hacked data being strategically deployed in close House/Senate races.

Do we think the timing of this has anything to do with the fact that Michael Cohen’s office was (legally) raided on Monday? Cohen was the deputy finance chair of the RNC... could be some serious skeletons in that closet.

This reminds me of how defensive Mickey Rooney was a few years ago over his Breakfast at Tiffany’s character. He claimed the director and other movie staff loved the character and wanted him to pour “the comedy” on thick and no one had a problem.
