Well that’s just it. They can differentiate with styling and offer their own powertrain since they beleieve so strongly in MultiAir for Dodge/Fiat. The Alfas could of course have proper DOHC 1.75 Alfa motors. Instant differentiation from the Mazda base blood while still benefiting from platform sharing.

They have a successful relationship with Mazda for the Fiat 124, why not take that a bit further and borrow the Mazda 2/3 platforms for their next generation Alfa/Dodge/Fiat hatches?
