As someone who was raised by grandparents I can understand how it could be frustrating. My grandparents bent over backwards to help my parents when they got married*, but when I had kids my own parents were too busy/caught up in their own bullshit to help with anything.

The real issue with our food is how divorced we’ve become from its production.

I buy most of my groceries from the local farmer’s market: everything from greens to fish to meat, all fresh and locally harvested. Not everyone is in a position to do this, but it is a great option for those who can.

I thought about being Vegan or Veggie but the truth is, food is the only real link I have to my culture and as a mixed race person, it’s part of my identity. Food is what brought each side of my family together.
