@GameBuddy - Doesn't like tomatoes on his sandvich.: Well, technically the last book I read was a Japanese light novel, The Twelve Kingdoms vol 1, but the last actual NOVEL I read was TH White's The Once and Future King. He died in 1964, so that passes that test. :)
