Not to say that Elizabeth Warren has any native heritage to find, but I’m surprised so many people seem to have so much faith in these DNA tests. People treat the most like they’re solid science, but they’re barely more trustworthy than your horoscope. You can get different results depending on which company you

Meanwhile in the 80s those Golden Girls were buying condoms in bulk.

I see Ru’s initial point in a way. At what point are you not doing drag anymore because you are a woman? But I also understand everyone else.

I don’t think he is being unreasonable here at all. He accepts trans people and welcomes them. But it really is different when they start formal transition when its a drag competition. And, yes, there are always going to be blurry lines about when a transition really starts. Because gender is not a black and white

Who else would want to put themselves through that amount of rejection while seeking that amount of approval?

Seriously, if you’re going to vet your movie collection for abusers, rapists, sexual harassers, kiddie molesters, you’re going to have to remove a lot of content.

Don’t let any of these people ruin your favorite movies.

This is quite ironic considering that Three Billboards basically only brought up racism amongst law enforcement to further justify the white protagonist’s mistrust of the cops while the movie treats the black supporting characters as props or passive observers while also giving unearned pathos to a racist character.

Bringing Up Baby and The Lady Eve are probably my favorite romantic/ screwball comedies

This is one of those movies that non-cinephiles will likely never watch just on their own (old comedy, black and white, etc.), but it holds up really well and is absolutely hilarious. Some Like It Hot is another great example.

Nerd trivia: Christopher Reeve based his Clark Kent on Grant’s performance in Bringing Up Baby.

It’s one of my favorite comedies. The script was written with her in mind and it’s so clear—she’s just perfect in her role. She’s sexy as can be, and it’s nonstop laughs. Everyone went nuts for her in the Philadelphia Story (which is great, don’t get me wrong) but Bringing Up Baby is a better movie IMO.

That’s why the scene in Archer with him discovering the Ocelot always cracks me up. Seems like a pretty direct reference.

I really should watch this movie. How could the combination of Hepburn, Grant, and Hawks possibly miss?

I think it’s the flip side of the same principle. Erik Killmonger is a villain not because he does or does not advocate violence. It’s a superhero film that climaxes with a fight involving armored rhinoceroses. Everybody in the film is, at minimum, not anti-violence.

Come on, now. We’ve all got a half-dozen or so talented and gorgeous daughters and have produced some of the greatest releases in the history of recorded music. Hell, I’m even writing this from my palatial estate that all of us have and oh my I just remembered I’m Quincy Jones and maybe that’s why this is so

Ignoring the social issues entirely...this movie sounds batshit crazy. Not in a great way.

Also: That you're guaranteed to hear either a Trooper song at least once per hour is the worst part of living in Canada.

True Fact: Every used record store in the country has at least 3 copies of the Monks' "Bad Habits" gathering dust somewhere.
(I did my part and bought a copy years ago, but I can't say I've listened to it more than a handful of times)

Not a Canadian band, but for some reason only really made it here that I would put forward for the time: The Monks
