The Epic Store isn’t giving more money to developers, as this deal was done with 2k, and not Gearbox. This is just more money to line the pockets of executives, and overall, the EGS tacks on plenty of fees the customer has to pay for. Ultimately games there aren’t going to be cheaper, or earning developers more money.
Season 1 was a masterpiece idc how weird and silly the finale was. It earned it after such a surreal and wonderful story.
I’ve just finished this season, and I’m feeling incredibly positive about it.
illegitimate game breaking glitches? how is retaining aerial momentum gamebreaking? it still exists. or L cancelling, something that was later just added to the games permanently? And the controller argument is very old at this point, given most locals and majors will run UCF or arduinos to give everyones controllers…
No, let this tired complaint die already. Don’t like it? Don’t watch, don’t complain, and don’t rain on other people’s parades.
This is where it started for me too, at the arcades. I’d argue the stakes WERE high as 25 cents was alot of money in the 80s and 90s! When SF2 released, the stakes were your spot at the cabinet, which at the time meant, you had to wait 30 minutes to an hour to try again if there was a big enough crowd.
“I did something cool” really encapsulates why people play melee. Yes there is a lot of skill and hours put in, but that’s because its a complex and fun game. While I feel there are some mechanics that should be made easier for the casual, this was a good way to show the passion melee pros put into the game. It let's…
Nothing is more humbling than realizing you are a speck compared to pro players. Sometimes it’s better to enjoy the game at the lower levels than it is to try and compete with the best. Whatever is most fun for you, go for it.
One thing I tell people who have trouble in boss fights is that, in most games there is no timer on boss fights. Too often our reaction is to immediately start rushing the boss, thinking that if we can kill it before it kills us then that is the most efficient method. I’ve seen so many people die to Soulsborne bosses…
I will be linking to this article (and the previous one) for my students during the fall semester when I cover the subject of plagiarism. I try to have a new “real-world” story for them every semester, to demonstrate that plagiarism has professional and legal consequences well beyond the academic sphere, and this one…
Do you own the copyright to Gizmodo’s assets? (No, you don’t)
So then why are you using your device to copy all of those assets onto your local machine? You literally do not have the RIGHT to COPY them. Yet you intentionally browsed to their site with the explicit intention of creating perfect digital copies of their…
This is fascinating. It has to have something to do with them killing off characters in the reveal trailers.
I’m reminded of the Mother series - not Mother 2, released as Earthbound legitimately, but Mother 1 and Mother 3.
This is how I feel. People who screech about stealing are annoying. People who bend far enough backwards to tongue their own buttholes to justify piracy are annoying. If you want to do it, just fucking do it. I don’t care. Nobody cares. Even the people who are paid to care don’t actually care.
No need to defend.
I think a big element to this that a lot of people miss is that ALL games should be preserved, regardless of any of other qualities. Virtual Console and NES/SNES Classic, along with PSOne Classics and things like that, are great ways to enjoy older games no longer in print for their original hardware. But those are…
It can hardly count as stealing when they lose literally nothing by you taking it. Unlike with pirating modern games, they don’t even lose out on sales (because they won’t sell them)
Stealing is defined as “taking” something: taking, as in removing it from someone else, and adding it to your own possessions. This is…
There are tons of lost books, movies, and other forms of art that disappeared solely because it was illegal to make copies and the people responsible for them didn’t care and allowed them to be destroyed. It’s a travesty that we continue the trend, and have added video games to the garbage pile.
Various game emulation sites are pulling down their software libraries, or ceasing to exist entirely, following a…
