It was already F2P, you just had to buy the base game. Now the base game is free. It’s not elder scrolls where it failed and went f2p after you buy, they’ve been doing great so and have an expansion so they opened up the base game.

The game was always Free to play. There never was a subscription, now you can just play the base game for absolutely free, don’t even have to buy it. Expansion will still cost though. The game has only been growing, unlike Elder Scrolls or Wildstar so they are doing it to bring more in before expansion hits.
