If you look at the Pottermore article it does say that Harry is a direct descendant of Hardwin, and Germain quoted the “direct descendant” bit, but didn’t organize the sentence properly so that it’s correct wording. If he’d said direct ancestor without the quotes or just reversed the names it would be fine.
