When I was a wee boy my family won an XK8 convertible in a lottery. I picked up the phone and thought it was a salesman so I hung up on them. Thankfully, they called back.

just get the coupe, it’s way better looking.

I own a 2000 Jaguar XK8, at $4k this seems fair, but I’d note the following:

I first became aware of it, Mandrake, during the physical act of love...Yes, a profound sense of fatigue, a feeling of emptiness followed. Luckily I was able to interpret these feelings correctly. Loss of essence. I can assure you it has not recurred, Mandrake. Women sense my power, and they seek the life essence. I

The Titanic was real

It’s really only the US that’s stuck with ACH. The UK has been real-time for years. It had been observed there long ago that walking to your bank, withdrawing cash, and literally walking it across town to pay a debt was faster than thier banking system, so it changed. Here in the states, you use Venmo or similar

Haha mine was our chemistry teacher; both classroom and road test; during which he was chain smoking cigarettes the whole time.

My driver’s test was chauffeuring around my high school gym teacher/head football coach around town so he could do errands. I passed and he even paid for lunch. The system works!

My mom desperately needed a new car. She was adamant about not getting a hybrid which were the only ones available in her area that had a feature she needed. When I asked her what she had against hybrid, she said it was useless because she didn’t have a charger available. Twenty minutes of explanation later we went to

You don’t have to say dickhead when you say pro-Putin. It’s like saying ATM machine.

That doesn’t negate the fact that they’re morons & assholes.

These fuckin morons won the war, yet they still feel so goddamn aggrieved (For what, I don’t know. Being stupid fucking childish morons, I guess) they have to protest. Nothing in this country is shutdown. Most mandates, if anything, are for wearing a goddamn mask. A handful of employers require shots, and boo-fuckin

huh ... ist das nicht eine Essiggurke ... vielleicht werde ich mich sicher und ruhig zurückziehen, wenn die Zeit reif ist”

obligatory reference to NFPA stats showing that in total numbers and per car actually on the road and in per million miles driven, EVs catch fire at a much lower rate than gasoline cars. but that doesn’t fit your narrative.

They still have chemicals that can react.   If you drain and purge a gas tank, there are no reactive chemicals in them.

Oh wow, I didn’t realize that the Audi has less than 10 cuft of cargo space behind the rear seats. I have an A7 PHEV and even though the battery takes up a bit more trunk space than in the full gas version, it still has about 14 cuft of space which is plenty for my family of three to take on a trip for a few days. The

The extent of roadway damage due to passenger vehicles is negligible, literally.

I really don’t think you were following along. I’m not arguing EVs are worse. OP falsely stated EVs are heavier and thus do more damage to roads and I pointed out they’re no heavier than any common vehicle.

I really wouldn’t mind vehicles (all vehicles), getting quieter. I am glad that wave is coming.

I am reminded of Mercedes’ (I think it was her) article on the 4xe; there was a lot more nature to see when it was quiet...

Not a big deal but gasoline taxes are mostly diverted to other non-road expenses already. And damage to roads is primarily a result of temperature cycling, poor initial foundations, and heavy trucks. Making a small change to passenger vehicle weight won’t make a difference.
