Even if it was a small number of them waving Nazi and Confederate flags, the dancing/pissing on the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, parking on the Cenotaph, doing anything to a Terry Fox statue (our greatest hero), harassing food bank volunteers, etc lost them whatever support they may have had among average Canadians.

It is an important point. To an international audience it is hard to explain just how revered Terry Fox is. I think every Canadian has the image of him limping down the road and dying trying to reach his goal.
