Hold on, she’s 52?
It’s not true in your experience. And I agree that this dude is over-generalizing but my friend adopted a lovely dog from the shelter and after about six months the dog became increasing territorial and mean. It has now bitten five people (including me) and they are afraid to have anyone over to their house anymore.…
Yep - it really pissed me off too because this guy is basically saying “rescues are completely unpredictable and their personalities can wildly change for the worse for no reason,” which is a terrible stigma to place on homeless pets in order to defend 1 person’s bad behavior. Usually a dog needs some time to…
Scared, piece of shit disgusting scum of the earth asshole humans who would fire on a happy dog cops make killer cops.
No hesitation: anyone tries to shoot my dogs on my property will find themselves shot with something a lot more painful than a bullet in a place a hell of a lot more permanently damaging than they could ever imagine.
I rescue dogs (for 10 yrs) and I have taken in sooooo many “unadoptable” dogs over the years. Trauma survivors, dogs from meat farms, special needs, biters etc. They ALL get better. Some we don’t rehome (the biters usually) so they stay forever fosters but they do just fine (but we worry that they could revert with…
I think he’s spewing crap too. That being said, there are some animals that are harder to work with in a home than in a shelter. Cats are different than dogs, but my adopted cat was very docile in his foster home. He was abandoned after being attacked by the family dog, so he was both injured and depressed, as well as…
The trainer sounded like an ass, that I can agree with.
Yea I don’t get it. My latest rescue , 2 years ago was a mess when I brought him home from the shelter. He was humping everything, drinking his own urine off the grass after he’d go, howling at all hours of the night. A disaster. A week later after we got him fixed, the first two issues vanished over night. He calmed…
But there’s a difference between an abused animal and one that was trained to be aggressive. Some people actually abuse their animals and train them to be territorial and mean because having a scary dog is so bad ass /s
That said, a dog like that is rare. Almost all of the dogs taken from Michael Vick’s dog fighting…
I mean, it’s pretty obvious what his motivations are for defending Dunham. How many rich, hapless, clueless, hopelessly useless dog owners do you think there are in the Los Angeles area? A hundred thousand? Half a million? That’s a lot of potential clients for the guy. If he goes out and disparages Dunham then he is…
Just because your rescue acted differently doesn’t mean its impossible that Dunham’s dog acted worse six months after adoption. Maybe Dunham herself did something to cause the dog to act out (like not spending enough time with him). So the dog will be better off somewhere else.
Yeah. I have two rescue dogs. The first one had very serious separation anxiety, so I hired a dog trainer. I committed to the process completely and remained consistent. The progress was amazing. Now I have a couch potato who barely looks up when I return home.
The most obvious thing here is that dog REALLY hated Lena Dunham.
We have 3 rescues (all with *behavior problems*) and have fostered several dogs as well. Dogs, like people, have issues. They need owners that understand and accept their quirks. It takes time and a lot of patience and is not for everyone.
Some animals just bond with one person. My poor sister spent weeks bottle feeding and cuddling a rescue kitten into surviving only to have it decide all humans who were not my mom should die. I agree that his assessment that it’s a rescue issue is bullshit, but some animals can be assholes. Hell, good luck…
My little girl Chihuahua was really sweet at first, but then when after 6 months, when she realized we were her forever home she got really aggressive. She had a rough start also, and survived by hustling for scraps. When she realized we were a permanent home she was super protective of us and tried to chase…
Just because it worked for you doesn’t mean it works for everybody. I have a close friend who had a rescue without problem for 8 years. GREAT DOG. Then she had a baby and the dog LOST ITS MIND. Like, actually started jumping out windows. Trainers, psychologists, prozac and thousands of dollars - resulting in…
So much word to this. I’ve had 3 shelter dogs, all sweeter than a box of babies and with zero behavioral problems. My first was like an angel—wanted nothing more than to cooperate, make me happy, and snuggle. I miss him literally everyday.
