I’m sorry though, too. For people like you that really believed the bullshit. The church is a master manipulator for the faithful - I’ve seen it all my life, which is why I hate them with every fiber of my being. At least with Ratzi you knew how evil it was. This dude is like finding out Santa Claus is a serial killer.

that’s about all I made it through too.

yeah, as a militant atheist raised in this fucked up church, I laughed when everyone fell all over themselves for this guy. Number 1, he has a big American PR firm behind him so smoke and mirrors and Number 2 the church hasn’t changed a thing in 300+ years - what makes anyone think anything is going to change now.

oh god, that just reminded me of my Rosie O’Donnell encounter in Big Sur when I worked at one of the super expensive resorts there. She left after the first night saying “This ain’t nothin’ but fancy campin’”. She was horrible.

I worked at a very upscale resort/hotel in Big Sur the year it opened in 1990. I have a ton of these stories.

I live in the mountains in Italy - we can bottle it from here (for now...)

Holy shit - my nightmare is coming true.

except she got the popular vote, so why is everyone still whining about ‘protest’ votes? Also, the DNC could have run a candidate that could beat this POS handily.

I’ve been saying all along that the APEX of Americana will be the reality show he will no doubt air when he becomes President.

I’m so sorry for your loss - truly. I am from San Francisco, grew up there in the 70s and 80s and have been to many many events like this over the years (up to the early 2000s) so this has hit very close to home for many of us. I now live in Europe but have been following this story rabidly and I have been in tears on

Case in point: twisting White Supremicists into Alt-right.

sorry, I’m in Italy and it’s been a loooong day. Hitting the wine now (I clearly needed it hours ago).

You can’t really compare child brides and burkas, but I understand what you’re getting at - I’m just really, really against banning something on what surely are not altruistic grounds. You know as well as I do this ban amounts to nothing less than Islamaphobia and prejudice. Woman’s rights doesn’t even factor into it

that’s kinda the point.

I think it should be, ultimately, the woman’s choice and many woman wear them because they want to. I realize that many woman wear them because they are being forced and I don’t have an answer for that but I don’t think banning them is it.

I have zero problem with that. The argument I hear all the time is ‘religion should be personal’. Great, then keep it personal across the board. Either everyone gets to wear their religious billboards or no one does. Period.

I absolutely agree with all of that and hate the things as much as the next person - what I do not agree with is banning a religious article of clothing because we don’t like it.

“A burqa ban goes after a practice that increases employment discrimination, creates a hard time for women to socialize with non-muslims or more progressive muslims who don’t wear the burqa.”

DING DING DING DING.

So you think it’s okay to ban burkas even though MANY WOMEN WEAR THEM BY CHOICE.
