You can’t really compare child brides and burkas, but I understand what you’re getting at - I’m just really, really against banning something on what surely are not altruistic grounds. You know as well as I do this ban amounts to nothing less than Islamaphobia and prejudice. Woman’s rights doesn’t even factor into it…

I think it should be, ultimately, the woman’s choice and many woman wear them because they want to. I realize that many woman wear them because they are being forced and I don’t have an answer for that but I don’t think banning them is it.

I have zero problem with that. The argument I hear all the time is ‘religion should be personal’. Great, then keep it personal across the board. Either everyone gets to wear their religious billboards or no one does. Period.

I absolutely agree with all of that and hate the things as much as the next person - what I do not agree with is banning a religious article of clothing because we don’t like it.
