Will, congrats and good work.
I knew Jezebel would have the good sense not to put “Oh Canada” in the lede.
Thank you.
You’re greatly confusing the point: I’m not saying the teams/players were bad, it’s that the product on the field wasn’t as good as it was in other years. There were great baseball players/teams in the deadball era, but it was unwatchable.
Dolphins fan, actually.
The 1970s are pretty universally held as seeing the destruction of passing football in favour of running and defence. Rule changes fixed that.
1988-1993 was a morass, especially for an AFC fan. Favre and his breakout started to improve things.
The funny part is, every guy who meets the description you list above tends to laugh along with it.
The NFL has always been an organizational mess, they’re just brilliant at having NFL Films memorialize everything perfectly on the field, even the awful 1970s and early 1990s eras.
It’s like 4 bucks a month, max. WHY.
I wish we got those ads in Canada. The Old Spice ads here have a pale white guy telling us to vote Liberal for some reason.
I remember that, and I remember one of the more perverted students in the back of the class openly celebrating. Our teacher, a really personable probably age 28/29 woman, just went “You should wait until you see a real pair, it’s even better.”
Looking back, she took quite the professional risk there.
1990s television, Simpsons excluded, was focus-grouped mush.

TSN.ca used to have a fun feature in their detailed player profiles that let you change the team theme around them (For example have Martin St. Louis show up with TML colours/logo). It was lots of fun on deadline day.

Nobody’s saying they do. These are nice ways of maybe triggering in someone’s mind what’s making them sound awful.
It’s basically avoid mansplaining, which becomes encoded in some men.
you know who else thought humans were expendable
