I disagree with you. Today Birdcage especially funny would make me laugh. Having seen him at THE PUBLIC theater recently in Dry Powder, he is one multifaceted actor.
Also, sense of humor counts. A clever comedy is not for everyone, they just don't like to laugh. And that is very acceptable.
