Ha, another Norwegian. We use insane amounts of electricity in this country, which is mostly hydropower. That might explain some of the following numbers, but our entire EV car park of about 300k vehicles, in a nation of 6 million, consumed just 0.5% of our electricity production:
Can confirm. Here in Norway BEVs passed the 60 % mark for new car sales nationwide in October 2020, and even in our coldest, remotest region, which makes the Dakotas seem densely populated, BEVs were 46 % of the sales.
They have EV’s in Europe, too. And very cold weather. They seem to be coping, judging by the lack of news about this problem.

All the better to be able to press them with your thickly gloved hands in Scandinavia.
Most Tesla drivers don’t hold on to the steering wheel anyways.
They did complain about it yesterday.
Seriously, I remember as a kid/teenager thinking switching to yokes would be da shit, and then I became an actual driver and realizing switching to yokes would be shit.
If they were going to merge, you would never be able to tell until they’re already doing it.
This IS having vision—failover is a huge part of AV and I literally just envisioned a possible solution, or at least a start. As far as handing over all driving to the “most advanced” systems from Tesla, GM, etc, we’d be boned, at least right now. There’s been plenty of mis-used Autopilot wrecks.
Because systems that do most of the work--like Autopilot or any L2 system--makes drivers less attentive, and that’s why we get accidents without safe failover. There’s been many, many studies about this, starting with Mackworth’s 1948 study of vigilance tasks: https://journals.sagepub.com/doi/10.1080/17470214808416738
Yep. If anything, the additional police forces will be there to make sure the terrorists make it out of there unscathed. No names will be taken, no arrests.
You’re right for an all of the GOP politicians, but I wouldn’t want to be the guy who’s face can be clearly seen breaking into the capital building. He’s going to be in a world of shit when the dust settles.
I think we can safely assume there will be zero consequences for any of this.

If you didn't get an Apple Certified windshield, they would probably brick your car. I wish this was a joke.
Knowing Apple, they will make third party windshields throw a warning light and the car losing 20hp until you replace it with a genuine Apple windshield at an authorized dealer.
