Probably the outwardly dumbest mod was the black garden edging front lip on my old Neon and the giant Koni decal. Screwed on with self tappers. It looked good though.

It may be shitty but I fucking love it.  I had a Neon back in the day with some of the same “mods”.  The early 2000's were rad. 

I definitely ditched the engine cover/intake on my MK5 Rabbit right away and make my own intake pipe that located the filter in the fender.  Eventually went to an IE intake manifold and tune which REALLY woke the car up.
