Mamoru Hosoda isn't the next Miyazaki, but he's damn good. Summer Wars & Wolf Children were lovely films, and The Girl Who Leapt Through Time is near-perfect, but I wish he wouldn't rely on so many tropes & cliches. He has such a deft touch with characterization & pacing.

Man, I wish someone would put out a proper version of the original on Blu-Ray. Yeah, the gist was that they were completely surprised that JRPGs are actually popular outside of Japan, and releasing "niche" games in Western markets can actually pay huge dividends. Thus ends a dozen years of willful ignorance towards the West.
