‘”I wouldn’t mind seeing someone make a Blockbuster Biopic y’know? Like set it in the heady days of the 80s and 90s before having the second act be about the downfall and the final act just be about the last one standing. Just a film about how something so ubiquitous could fall.”’

DC.

Yeah it honestly feels like a missed opportunity, it could have been something really fun. Instead we got... this

Well, I guess it's actually understandable that I got a Community notification for this.

I imagine an obscure character allows more freedom for his creative impulses than a well-known, publicly-beloved character would; plus this particular obscure character gives him an easy justification for exercising his comedic and musical talents. Seems like a good gamble to me.

Meh, low-budget ripoff of Polka-Dot Man. They couldn’t even afford color for him.

Shouldn’t that be “Sony Execs”, since Disney’s not involved with this film?

I have to go with the general consensus on this one. It should have been a period piece set anywhere from the late eighties through the later nineties. You could have had a lot of fun with the nostalgia while also commenting on the culture of the time as well as people’s love of movies and how they help shape (at

Not important to anything or anyone, but just to say, I was a manager at Blockbuster, late-90s in Los Angeles, and on our busy nights we had a ton of employees, cash registers at max capacity with lines all night long. And don’t get me started on Christmas Eve...

Saw a Reddit thread about the cancellation yesterday and literally every other post was talking about how it should have been set in the 90s or 00s. It was such an obvious thing to do.

I’d assume that this is a character and film that Glover wants to make.

I found it to be perfectly serviceable for binging during household chores, but you’re right: should have been set in the late 80s or 90s. That’s what I expected when I hit “play,” and was unpleasantly surprised.

At least Hypno-Huslter has had multiple appearances - up into the double-digits.

Blockbuster. What is dead may remain dead.

Saw the first episode. Switch over to something else immediately. I’m not feeling it. The joke, the quirks... Nothing.

Glover is a talented, well-regarded screenwriter in his own right. I imagine that if he's attached to the project he's got some faith in Murphy. Or his potential anyway.

Donald Glover is an amazing talent, so why would you saddle him with an obscure character and a screenwriter so raw that he doesn’t even have an IMDB page? Maybe Myles Murphy isn’t just leveraging his father’s name and has a brilliant idea for an amazing script, but this seems like a huge longshot.

Seems like they should have started earlier. They could have rotated & kept the group going just missing one at a time. Maybe the would have had to stop when RM served.
