This only seems to stop the reaction, though. That's what confuses me about it's potential usefulness, or lack thereof.
It seems like it would be harder to make this work at a real fire than in a lab... If the conditions for fire all exist (heat, fuel, oxygen), won't the fire just keep recurring? Current techniques all attack the root causes, but this doesn't seem to?
